Driven Duck Shooting and Wild Boar Monteria on the Same Estate

Driven duck shooting and wild boar Monteria in France: few packages on the continent deliver two disciplines this different within a single trip. This Southern France estate gives experienced Guns the full picture — towering mallards pushed high over the pegs at a world-renowned duck estate, then the controlled chaos of a Monteria with pack dogs moving boar, mouflon, and red deer across 600 fenced hectares. Although each day stands alone as exceptional sport, the combination is what makes this package unique. Designed for groups who want results, not tourism.

Programme

  • DAY 1: Group arrival at the lodge, clay shooting, running boar target practice, range familiarisation
  • DAY 2: French Monteria (driven hunt with hounds) on the estate
  • DAY 3: Driven high duck shooting at a world-renowned estate, 1.5 hrs transfer
  • Optional DAY 4: Second Monteria day or second duck day, client’s choice
  • DAY 4 or 5: Departure after breakfast

Season & Territory

The estate covers 600 fully fenced hectares of lowland habitat in the Haute-Garonne department, 100 km from Toulouse-Blagnac (TLS). Moreover, the proximity to TLS makes same-day arrival from most European cities straightforward. The package runs from October through February, covering the full French waterfowl and big game season.

Driven Duck Shooting Explained

Guns take their pegs as the first drive is called. Three to five organised drives push mallards high and fast, with proper sporting shots throughout. Between drives, retrieving dogs work the falls while a drink and snack are served at the peg line. The session runs three to four hours and closes with a lodge lunch and a formal tableau display.

Bag: 50 ducks per Gun (quota can be pooled across the group). Overages at €20 per duck.

French Monteria Explained

Morning briefing at the lodge, then Guns are transferred to numbered high seats across the estate. Multiple dog packs are released into the block, steadily pushing game toward the line. Before taking position, each Gun is briefed on safe zones and species identification. Depending on conditions, one or two drives are run, typically four to five hours of active hunting.

Bag and expectations:

  • Wild boar: 1 male per Gun
  • Mouflon and red deer: unlimited shooting on female and young animals
  • Trophy males (tusker boar, mouflon ram, red deer stag): available at published trophy fees
  • Realistic expectation for experienced Guns: 3 to 5 shooting opportunities per person, no guarantee given wild conditions
  • No tableau is organised, an ethical and reputational decision by the estate
  • Some venison may be taken home by hunters

The Lodge

The main hunting lodge provides 8 en-suite twin/double bedrooms with private bathrooms, a bar and restaurant room with open bar service, and an indoor pool. Two additional cottages (3 and 4 bedrooms) accommodate larger groups. All buildings are on-estate.

Shooting facilities on arrival: 50-metre running boar range with camera-controlled impact review, fixed targets, and a sporting clay ground, all included free of charge for hunt participants.
